Sailing Expeditions on Svalbard — Duen Experience

Adventure Sailing

Embark on a captivating 7-day journey where you'll not only learn to sail a two-masted ketch but also immerse yourself in the magic of Duen III – a vessel that exudes the unmistakable charm of 'big boat energy.' This voyage isn't about the destination; it's a celebration of the art of sailing and the extraordinary moments that unfold when living aboard a seafaring vessel for an entire week.

Whether you're sailing solo or with a partner, you'll start as strangers and leave as lifelong friends.

The breathtaking landscapes of Northern Norway will be your canvas, painting scenes that range from sandy white beaches to snow-capped alpine mountains, all in pursuit of visiting the most remote and enchanting places.

The whims of weather will guide our journey, and the itinerary I share here is just a glimpse of the adventures that await.

What to Expect

Cabins

Choose between two styles of cabins: double or bunk beds. Each cabin has an ensuite with both toilet and shower facilities. Linen and towels are included. Our double beds can be split into two single beds using a room divider.

Crew

Crew members on board Duen III have the necessary certificates required by Norwegian law to operate a 22-meter sailing vessel with guests. You will find a variety of experience among our crew members, which ranges from classical sailing to fishing and merchant vessels. They are more than happy to share their knowledge.

Food

Three meals are served daily on board with snacks in-between meals. A variety of Norwegian and international dishes are prepared by our crew members.

Safety on board

Once aboard the ship, guests join a mandatory safety briefing before starting our voyage. We have all necessary safety equipment on board. These include life vests, transponders, radios, fire extinguisher, and life rafts. All equipment has been inspected and serviced according to Norwegian laws and standards.

Activities

Join our crew members and learn how to operate the sailing vessel.

Depending on our guests’s interests you are invited to participate on hikes ashore. We are open to suggestions and will try our best to accommodate everyone’s wishes.

You will find an 8-person hot tub on the aft, fuelled by driftwood collected ashore. Sit on deck while soaking in the spectacular surroundings.
